Calculation of sand filters

The required number of filters is defined with the following formula:

N_F = 0.5√(F_F)

where F_F is a total area of filters, m².

Calculation of the total area of filter is carried out according to the formula:

F_f = Q_w / (t·V_R - n·q_wash - n·t_st·V_R)

where Q_w is a daily flow,
t is an operation time of treatment plant during one day (hours),
V_R is a rated filtration rate (under normal operating conditions),
n is a number of filter washings,
q_wash is a specific water flow, used for one filter washing,
t_st is a facility standing time as a result of filter washing (measured in hours).

It is worth noting, that all the other filters must operate with accelerated speed during washing of one filtration facility. Velocity value must not exceed seven meters. When being in compliance with the heavy-speed mode, liquids filtration rate can be determined from the following formula:

V_f = V_w · (N_f)/(N_f - N)

where N is the number of filters being repaired or washed, and N_f is the total number of filters being in working state. The following formula is used to calculate one filter area:

F = F_F/N_F

In this formula, N_F is the total number of all the filters (measured in pcs.)

In some cases, it is necessary to provide sand filters with a mechanical agitator for sand stirring-up to improve treatment quality. Mechanical agitators operate only during sand cleaning by backflow of washing water and they are switched off during filtration.

This formula is used to calculate water filtration rate:

w = 3600·c·d²·(h/l)·(0.7+0.03·t)

where w is a filtration rate (m/sec),
c is a correction factor which equals to 40, approximately,
d is the diameter of sand grains (m),
h is the pressure loss (m H₂O),
l is the layer thickness (m)
t is a water temperature (°C).

Knowing the flow speed, it is possible to calculate the approximate flow rate of liquid. This means that it is possible to calculate the filter performance based on the sand layer porosity.

Upon becoming the official distributer of fabric filters, our company ‘Intech GmbH’ LLC (ООО «Интех ГмбХ»), carries out the following: finds the buyers of your products on the market, conducts technical and commercial negotiations with the customers regarding the supplies of your equipment, concludes contracts. Should a bidding take place, we will collect and prepare all the documents required for the participation, conclude all the necessary contracts for the supply of your equipment, as well as register the goods (fabric filters) and conduct customs clearance procedures. We will also register a certificate of transaction (Passport of Deal) required for all foreign trade contracts in the foreign currency control department of the authorized Russian bank so that currency transaction could be effected. If required, our company will implement an equipment spacing project in order to integrate your equipment into the existing or newly built production plant.
